This my prediction for the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl and why this is a very intriguing matchup:
The game will be played between UTSA (12-1) and San Diego State (11-2) on Dec 21. UTSA was a 3rd to last undefeated team left in the country before being destroyed by North Texas in the last week of the regular season before beating Western Kentucky in the C-USA championship game. San Diego State was also undefeated for a long time with a 7-0 start before losing to Fresno St. by 10 points. Both have had seasons that really exceeded my expectations. Their records are deceiving though. UTSA won six of their games by one possession and the same goes for San Diego State. The tiebreaker is gonna have to be strength of schedule. San Diego State has 4 good wins with games against Utah, at Air Force, Nevada, and Boise State. Their losses were also to quality teams in Fresno State and Utah State. UTSA has 3 quality wins with 2 against Western Kentucky and 1 against UAB. Their loss being to a very average North Texas team. I’m going to give an advantage here to San Diego State to cover and win 35-31.
