My predictions for the top 5 games of week 2:
Last Week (spread in parenthesis): 3-2 (2-3)
Overall: 3-2 (2-3)
24 Illinois at 22 Kansas (-3.0)
Both of these teams have been pretty bad historically, but really turned things around last year. They are pretty different at their core, but overall similar in skill. Kansas beat down on Missouri State last week, while Illinois was lucky to beat Toledo. When it’s all said and done, Kansas will win the game and cover because they have much more explosion on offense.
Troy at 23 Kansas State (-16.5)
Kansas State had a good week 1, but they need to look out for Troy. Troy might make it to a NY6 bowl game this year and has an explosive offense. I’m not too worried about Kansas State losing, but Troy should definitely cover and playing them at +16.5 is free money.
14 Ole Miss (-7.5) at Tulane
Ole Miss is not getting enough respect. They could be in for their best season yet with Lane Kiffin, and Jaxson Dart could be the best QB in the SEC. Tulane looked impressive against South Alabama, but I like Ole Miss to win and cover.
25 Wisconsin (-6.0) at Washington State
This is the most interesting game of the week. Wisconsin is favored on the road by almost a touchdown against a team that I believe boasts a better offense. Cameron Ward is a stud at QB for WASU, but can the defense pick up slack and get them the ball? I am very conflicted on who I should pick to win the game, but I am going to give the edge to Washington State to win and cover.
4 Texas at 2 Alabama (-7.0)
This is the biggest non-conference game of the year. Both teams are stacked with talent, and had an epic showdown last year. This time the game is in Tuscaloosa. Alabama had a big problem with games on the road last year, but did great at home. This year Alabama seems more sound on defense, and Texas lost some of their big playmakers on defense. I see Alabama winning and covering.
