Week 9: CFB Locks

My locks for week 9:

Locks: 5-4

Upset Alert: 3-0

Game of the Week: 1-2

Locks

Tulane (-10.5) at Rice

Tulane has been dominant all season outside of a loss to Ole Miss. Rice is okay, but Tulane wants another chance at that NY6 bowl. I like Tulane big in this one.

Tennessee (-3.5) at Kentucky

Tennessee has been pretty good all year. Their defense has been especially good while Kentucky’s offense has been lackluster. I don’t think Kentucky will be able to make the game super competitive, so I really like Tennessee to cover.

Oregon State (-3.0) at Arizona

Don’t get me wrong, I think Arizona is pretty good, but Oregon State is really good. Coming off a bye as well, I like the Beavers to win big. Even if they don’t win big, and still win by like 7 or 10, it’s still a cover, so this seems like a pretty easy play for week 9.

Upset Alert

Wyoming (+5.0) at Boise State

As of now, I’m undefeated in my upset alerts. I felt really good about Kansas, Mizzou, and Utah and they did not disappoint. I don’t feel nearly as confident about Wyoming getting the outright win, but here’s what I will say. Boise State has not done anything impressive all year. There best win is against San Jose State, and they have losses to CSU and Memphis who aren’t as good as Wyoming. Wyoming has a been a fringe top-25 team for a while now, and they have some good wins over Texas Tech and Fresno State while they have kept their losses close against ranked teams like Texas and Air Force. Wyoming should be able to win this one.

Game of the Week

8 Oregon at 17 Utah

Utah’s defense has been stellar this year, and their QB, Barnes, has been getting better and better. Oregon on the other hand, has been absolutely dominant on both sides of the ball in every game this season except against Washington. I like Oregon to win in this one, but Utah will be able to keep it close and low scoring.
