My picks for the 2024 NFL Playoffs and awards for the season:
Wildcard
Miami Dolphins at Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs has been very disappointing this season on the offensive side of the football. Patrick Mahomes is still the best QB in the NFL, but the O-Line and Wide Receivers have not been up to standard. The Dolphins great offense is finally getting healthy, but the defense is completely falling apart, especially in the LB corps. I think the difference in this one will be explosive plays, and that is what Miami is best at. The Dolphins will win in Kansas City and advance to the divisional round.
Cleveland Browns at Houston Texans
This is one of the best matchups of the postseason. Both teams have exceeded expectations and are having QB play they never could have dreamt of before the season started. I believe the Texans have the better offense, but the Browns have the better defense. I think CJ Stroud is gonna crack under the pressure as a rookie QB going against the best defense in the NFL. The Browns will get the win.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills
The Bills are favored by a whopping 10 points, but I don’t think that will be the case. Despite not having TJ Watt, the Steelers have a great defense and an offense that is playing better than it has in years with Mason Rudolph at QB. The Bills will get the win because I think their D-line will be too much for Pittsburgh in the trenches.
Green Bay Packers at Dallas Cowboys
Dallas plays great home, but they play terrible in the playoffs. The Packers are on a run right now, and Jordan Love is playing great football. At first, I though the Cowboys were going to absolutely destroy Green Bay, but now I’m starting to think this game may be a close one as I watch the Packers exciting offense. I think the Cowboys will end up getting the win because of their superior defense.
Los Angeles Rams at Detroit Lions
This game is very interesting, and very important for the 49ers. I think the Rams are playing way better right now than a regular 6 seed would, and if they win, the 49ers would have to play LAR instead of a cake walk against the Eagles or Buccaneers. I think the Lions are really good though, and their offense may be the best in the NFC. This one should be a shoot out and I would not be surprised if both of them score in the 30s. I think the Lions will win, and the 49ers will have dodged a huge bullet.
Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Eagles have played like complete dog crap for the last several weeks. Their offense can’t score, and their defense can’t stop anyone. The Bucs at least seem motivated to play in this thing. I like the Buccaneers to win by possibly multiple scores.
Divisional
Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens
Well, we all now how this ended a few weeks ago, and the Dolphins defense is even more depleted than it was just then. The Ravens will win this one BIG.
Cleveland Browns at Buffalo Bills
I never would have guessed at the beginning of the season that the Browns would be playing in the divisional round contending for a Super Bowl, but here we are after a miraculous stretch by Joe Flacco. I just think Josh Allen will be able to make more plays and the Bills will get the win.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have done great this season against non-contenders and Tampa Bay is a non-contender. The 49ers have better talent across the board and better coaching at their homefield. The 49ers can practically sleep through this one.
Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys
Initially I was going to pick Dallas to win this, but the more I think about, the more I think Detroit will win. After the controversy of this matchup a few weeks ago, Detroit is going to have a chip on their shoulder as they want to win this one despite lousy officiating. They have got a Super Bowl caliber offense and a Super Bowl caliber pass rush. The Lions will win in a classic.
Conference Championship
Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens
These teams are as hot as can be with some of the top QBs in the NFL. Both defense are playing at an elite level, and have great coaches. Their is one thing, however, that I think separates these two teams; the running game. The Ravens run the ball so much better than the Bills, and that will be the difference.
Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are probably the most talented team across the board in the NFL. Detroit has some serious problems on defense. With those things said, Detroit might have a chance because San Francisco seems to hit the injury bug. I don’t think you can count on that though, so I like the 49ers to win by multiple possessions.
Super Bowl
San Francisco 49ers vs Baltimore Ravens
These teams have been by far the best in the NFL this season and would be a great rematch from 2013. The reason I give the edge to the Ravens is because they have consistently dominated every single good team in the NFL.
