My mock for the 2024 NFL Draft:
1. Chicago Bears (via CAR)
The pick is obvious here. The Bears need a QB and Caleb Williams is the best one available.
QB Caleb Williams (USC)
2. Washington Commanders
Washington also needs a QB. They could either go with Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye. Personally, I think Daniels is a little better. I’m only wondering if his play style is going to work at the next level. I would compare him most to Lamar Jackson, but QB’s like that just don’t come around all that often.
QB Jayden Daniels (LSU)
3. New England Patriots
The Patriots are in a little bit of a more interesting position. While QB is a glaring need, they may go another way and go a year with Jacoby Brissett. If they decided to do that, Marvin Harrison Jr or a trade down may be in play. However, I would go with a QB here because I don’t think they’ll be picking this high very often in the future.
QB Drake Maye (North Carolina)
4. Arizona Cardinals
Listen, I know that A LOT of people have the Cardinals trading out of this pick, but I don’t think it makes that much sense. The Cardinals need top tier skill talent, and I think Marvin Harrison Jr could be an All-Pro player when its all said and done.
WR Marvin Harrison Jr (Ohio State)
Trade
Los Angeles Chargers receive:
– No. 11 pick
– No. 23 pick
– 2025 4th round pick
Minnesota Vikings receive:
-No. 5 pick
Alright, I personally would not do this if I’m the Vikings, but sometimes teams do crazy things to get a QB they want. I don’t think any left on the board are worth the trade up, but Minnesota wants to make sure Las Vegas and Denver can’t get the guy they want.
5. Minnesota Vikings (via LAC)
As I mentioned before, the Vikings would only do this for a QB. I think JJ McCarthy is definitely closer to Michael Penix Jr and Bo Nix than the top 3, but he may have the biggest ceiling of the bottom of the top 6.
QB JJ McCarthy (Michigan)
6. New York Giants
The Giants’ offense is looking like possibly the worst in the NFL right now. They lost Saquon Barkley (their only good skill player) and are stuck with a bad QB with an even worse contract. Their best option here is to make Daniel Jones as good as he can be with a WR. While you could go with Malik Nabers, I think Rome Odunze is a better all around WR.
WR Rome Odunze (Washington)
7. Tennessee Titans
I may not know much about evaluating offensive lineman, but I do know that Titans need one, and that Joe Alt seems to be the consensus number 1 guy.
T Joe Alt (Notre Dame)
8. Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons are in a good spot. They are a team that was bad because they had a bad coach and a bad QB, but now have a good QB and a probably better coach. In other words, they are now a good team with a good QB and a good pick. They have done a lot in free agency to address the offense, so I would definitely go defense here. Good teams are built with great pass rush, so I’m gonna go with Alabama’s Dallas Turner.
OLB Dallas Turner (Alabama)
Trade
Chicago Bears receive:
– No. 11 pick
– No. 69 pick
– No. 225 pick
Los Angels Chargers receive:
– No. 9 pick
It may seem like a steep price, but I think it is worth it to trade back up for the Chargers. They need receiver help desperately after losing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. The teams ahead of them both need WRs, but now the Chargers can guarantee they get the guy they want.
9. Los Angeles Chargers (via CHI)
The guy they would want in this situation would definitely be Malik Nabers. No question.
WR Malik Nabers (LSU)
10. New York Jets
The Jets addressed O-line in free agency to protect Aaron Rodgers, so I think it would make sense to get him a weapon. While they do need another WR, I think a the top weapon they can get in this position is Brock Bowers. He may be one of the best TEs I have ever seen in college football, and he will be a matchup nightmare.
TE Brock Bowers (Georgia)
11. Chicago Bears (via MIN/LAC)
The Bears are in a great situation here. They were able to acquire some nice draft capital, and they can pick basically whatever defensive player they want. I personally think the d-line needs the most help, so I would go with Jer’Zhan Newton.
DT Jer’Zhan Newton (Illinois)
12. Denver Broncos
A lot of people think the broncos will go with a QB here, but I don’t think that is their plan. The Broncos have a terrible roster, and will probably get a higher pick next year. I would pick a better player at another position this year, and get the top QB next year. They have needs basically everywhere so I would just draft the best player available.
DE Jared Verse (Florida State)
13. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders could pick a QB here, but I don’t think that is as big of a need here. Because of their relatively weak division, I think Vegas could make a playoff run this year with Minshew at QB. The secondary could use some work, so I would go with CB here.
CB Terrion Arnold (Alabama)
14. New Orleans Saints
I think tackle or edge could work here, but I think there are better tackles available, so that’s the way they’re gonna go.
OT Troy Fautanu (Washington)
15. Indianapolis Colts
They have plenty of places on the roster that could be improved and many think CB is most glaring need, but I actually think it would more beneficial to get Anthony Richardson some more protection as well as some help for Jonathan Taylor.
OT JC Latham (Alabama)
16. Seattle Seahawks
The offensive side of the ball is looking good, so I’m gonna look at their front 7. Their pass rush has been lacking the last few years, so EDGE seems like the biggest need.
OLB Laiatu Latu (UCLA)
Trade
Jacksonville Jaguars receive:
– No. 21 pick
– 2025 4th round pick
– 2025 5th round pick (via DEN)
Miami Dolphins receive:
– No. 17 pick
This trade is more wishful thinking, but the Dolphins need o-line help and this is how they assure that they get it.
17. Miami Dolphins (via JAX)
The o-line has been riddled with injuries and poor play for years. They need someone who can be an anchor for years to come.
OT Olu Fashanu (Penn State)
18. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals need some corner help and luckily there are a bunch of good ones in this year’s draft.
CB Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo)
19. Los Angeles Rams
The Rams need help on the O-line and I think that is a more pressing need than corner.
OT Taliese Fuaga (Oregon State)
20. Pittsburgh Steelers
They need offensive line help, but their receiving corps is also looking pretty bleak after trading away Diontae Johnson.
WR Adonai Mitchell (Texas)
21. Jacksonville Jaguars (via MIA)
If I’m the Jaguars, I address the D-line, specifically, the interior.
DT Byron Murphy II (Texas)
22. Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles do not have very many needs as I believe that they will be super bowl contenders this year, but I do think they address their good yet aging offensive line.
OT Amarius Mims (Georgia)
23. Los Angeles Chargers (via CLE/MIN)
If I’m the Chargers, I just take the best player available with this extra pick from the Vikings.
CB Nate Wiggins (Clemson)
24. Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have a good roster, but they have yet to make a real push in the playoffs. I think they need some quality depth at their skill positions as well as their d-line, and I think the defensive linemen are a little better at this point on the board.
DE Darius Robinson (Mizzou)
25. Green Bay Packers
The Packers has a surprisingly successful season last year after mopping Dallas in the wildcard, and their offense is superb. Their main problem, in my opinion, is their defense.
OLB Chop Robinson (Penn State)
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers are building something in this post-Tom Brady era. They have a lot of good, high-end talent, but are lacking depth, especially on defense. A good pass rusher or DB would be best here.
CB Coober DeJean (Iowa)
27. Arizona Cardinals (via HOU)
The Cardinals’ roster sucks. They need to pick the best available.
CB Kool-Aid McKinstry (Alabama)
28. Buffalo Bills
The Bills have completely dismantled their roster this offseason, and need help in their back 7 on defense and at receiver on offense. I think it is most important to keep Josh Allen happy with a good WR.
WR Brian Thomas Jr (LSU)
29. Detroit Lions
The Lions should have beaten the 49ers in the NFC championship, but they completely and utterly choked. One reason that is, is because they have a meh secondary.
CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr (Mizzou)
30. Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens were the best team in the regular season, but choked in the playoffs yet again. They kept a lot of their important pieces, but they lost some of their depth. They don’t have many holes, but I think CB is the biggest one.
CB TJ Tampa (Iowa State)
31. San Francisco 49ers
There are almost no holes here on this roster. While I would prefer to take a corner, most of the good ones are off the board, so I’m gonna go with OT here.
OT Tyler Guyton (Oklahoma)
32. Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs really need some better receivers and corners. I think the receivers are a little bit better than the corners still on the board, so I’ll go with WR.
WR Xavier Worthy (Texas)
