Saturday Stocks: Week 3

The Heisman Watch, and whose stock is going up and down after week 3:

Heisman Watch

Two things stood out to me this week among the Heisman contenders. Dillon Gabriel played great for the Ducks against their arch-rivals, and his speed especially impressed me. As Dillon Gabriel rises in my rankings, Quinn Ewers may have lost his shot. His injury may prevent him from having a real shot at winning the Heisman, but hopefully he doesn’t miss too much time.

Top 10

  1. RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)
  2. QB Jalen Milroe (Alabama)
  3. QB Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)
  4. QB Carson Beck (Georgia)
  5. QB Dillon Gabriel (Oregon)
  6. QB Cam Ward (Miami)
  7. QB Miller Moss (USC)
  8. QB Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee)
  9. QB Quinn Ewers (Texas)
  10. QB Alan Bowman (Oklahoma State)

Stock Up

Texas A&M Aggies

Yes, Florida may very well be the worst team in the SEC, but I wasn’t as impressed with the win as I was with QB Marcel Reed. He was both more accurate than Weigman, and an explosive runner. Their defense is legitimate, and if Reed keeps playing like this as a starter, TAMU could be really dangerous. The Aggies have a solid Bowling Green team coming to College Station in week 4.

UNLV Rebels

UNLV has now won two games against power 4 opponents, and they are a real contender to make the playoffs out of the G5. I initially thought they would take a step back this season after losing their QB, but I was wrong. Boise State is still my favorite to win the MW, but UNLV is a close second. UNLV has got a bye next week before starting conference play vs Fresno State.

Oregon Ducks

Oregon had a really shaky start in the first 2 weeks, and it was looking like more of the same at the half against Oregon State… But that’s when the Ducks turned it on. They were unstoppable in the second half, and Oregon looked like how I thought they would at the beginning of the season. Oregon has bye in week 4 before playing at UCLA in week 5.

Stock Down

Arizona Wildcats

I don’t blame them for losing to Kansas State, but their offense was terrible. Only putting up 7 points is embarrassing, and I really thought their offense would be a lot better this year. Arizona has bye this week before playing at Utah.

Vanderbilt Commodores

I thought Vandy might actually be decent this year after they beat Virginia Tech in week 1, but they disappointed me after losing on the road to Georgia State. I guess you never really can trust a crumby program. Vandy must play at Mizzou in week 4.

North Texas Mean Green

C’mon guys. I was pretty sure North Texas was going to keep their game with TTU close on Saturday, but instead, they gave up 66 points! I am very disappointed. They should be able to get back on track at home against Wyoming this week.

Game of the Week

West Virginia at Pitt 34-38

This game came down to the wire, and Pitt was able to comeback from down 10 with 5 minutes left. Eli Holstein had an amazing performance in the 4th quarter, and the Panthers came back to get me my Upset Alert W for the second week in a row.

Player of the Week

QB Jalen Milroe (Alabama)

Grinder of the Week

QB Eli Holstein (Pitt)
