Saturday Stocks: Week 4

Whose stock is up? Whose stock is down?

Heisman Watch

Nothing really stood out from my Heisman contenders this week, though Miller Moss’ stock is down after losing to Michigan.

Top 10

  1. RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)
  2. QB Jalen Milroe (Alabama)
  3. QB Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss)
  4. QB Cam Ward (Miami)
  5. QB Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee)
  6. QB Carson Beck (Georgia)
  7. QB Dillon Gabriel (Oregon)
  8. QB Quinn Ewers (Texas)
  9. QB Miller Moss (USC)
  10. QB John Mateer (WASU)

Stock Up

BYU Cougars

I was not expecting much from BYU this year, yet they man handled Kansas State. BYU is good in just about every area on the field, and they may now be a contender for the Big 12 Championship if they keep it up. BYU is playing against Baylor next week.

Navy Midshipmen

Navy is dangerous. They could be a dark horse playoff contender if their offense plays like they did against Memphis. Their QB (Blake Horvath) leads the FBS in QBR! Navy will attempt to build on their momentum against UAB in week 5.

Utah Utes

Apparently Utah doesn’t even need Cam Rising to go on the road and beat the next best team in the Big 12. I think the Utes have a legitimate shot of going undefeated, and they could possibly make some noise in the playoffs. Utah will play against Arizona next week.

Stock Down

Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State has a problem. If you’re getting blown out by 30 to BYU, you probably don’t have much of a chance of doing anything in the playoffs. Their offense lacks any clear consistency, and they will have a tough path to get to the Big 12 Championship as they compete with Oklahoma State, BYU. Iowa State, and maybe UCF for the second spot next to Utah. The Wildcats have a very important game against Oklahoma State in week 5.

Memphis Tigers

Memphis came into week 4 as one of the top G5 contenders, but now their status as a contender could be in jeopardy. USF and Tulane aren’t slowing down, and now Navy and Army could be threats in the AAC. They could have a rough time making the playoffs.

Cal Golden Bears

I’m not super concerned that they lost to Florida State, I am more concerned in how they lost. I was expecting Cal’s offense to run all over FSU, much like how Georgia Tech and Boston College did, but I was wrong. Cal scored 9 points as they averaged 2.9 yards per carry. If Cal wants to be something in the ACC, they need to be able to run with Jadyn Ott.

Game of the Week

San Jose State at Washington State 52-54 2OT

This game was an awesome back and forth shootout with some exciting QB play. John Matter really impressed me, not only with his legs, but his ball placement as well as he threw on the run.

Player of the Week

QB Blake Horvath (Navy)

Grinder of the Week

QB John Mateer (Washington State)
