My locks for Week 5:
Locks: 7-5
Upset Alert: 4-0
Game of the Week: 3-1
Locks
Oklahoma State (+5) at Kansas State
Both of these teams are coming off of tough losses and now have a chance to bounce back. I am of the opinion that OKST is better than Kansas State and would beat them on a neutral field, but Kansas State has homefield advantage. They might not get the win, but I expect OKST to cover here.
Ohio State at Michigan State (+23.5)
This is less of a knock on Ohio State, and more that I think Michigan State is a little disrespected. I think the Spartans are better than advertised, and they get this one at home. They don’t have much of a chance of winning, but I don’t see them getting blown out.
Illinois (+19.5) at Penn State
I think Penn State is really good, but Illinois’ defense is too good to get blown out by 20. Penn State may seem to dominate the game, but I still don’t see them scoring that many points. This game really seems like a 27-13 kinda deal where Illinois scores off a turnover or something. Illinois is too good to get blown out by Penn State.
Upset Alert
BYU (+3) at Baylor
I don’t understand why Baylor is favored here. They aren’t really all that good, and BYU has looked dominant through the first 4 weeks. BYU doesn’t usually play quite as good in the morning as they do at night, but I still think they should be able to get the win here since Baylor just is not a good team.
Game of the Week
5 Georgia at 3 Alabama
I really think Alabama is the better team. Georgia has a serious problem on offense. They show no consistency, and have struggled at the line of scrimmage. Alabama hasn’t done the best at sustaining drives, but they are extremely explosive. The main difference between Bama and the Dawgs? Ryan Williams. Ryan Williams is a true star receiver, and Georgia doesn’t really have a true difference maker at any skill positions. This should be a classic game nonetheless.
