Saturday Stocks: Week 6

Who’s up an down after a crazy week 6:

Heisman Watch

While Jeanty and Milroe continue to be strong, Ward probably had the most impressive week 6 after he put his team on his back for a huge comeback against Cal.

Top 3

  1. RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise State)
  2. QB Jalen Milroe (Alabama)
  3. QB Cam Ward (Miami)

Stock Up

Texas A&M Aggies

While I’m not surprised they won, I’m surprised by just how much they crushed Mizzou. They’re defense is among the best in the country, and their rushing attack seems really good. A&M must play at MSST next.

UL Monroe Warhawks

I was expecting UL Monroe to be terrible this year, but they shocked me with their win over JMU. They may have set themselves apart as the top dog in the Sun Belt as they are off to a 4-1 start. The Warhawks have Southern Miss in week 7.

Arkansas Razorbacks

Unlike Vanderbilt, I though Arkansas had a shot going into the game. I was surprised that they finished the deal and got the W, but I was especially surprised by how they were able to win with their defense. I was expecting them to lean on their offense. The Hogs play against LSU in week 8 after a bye.

Stock Down

USC Trojans

I was already a little soured on USC after their loss to Michigan, but losing to Minnesota while only scoring 17 points is inexcusable. I really thought USC’s offense was going to be better this year, but they have struggled on offense in 3 of their 5 games now. They will attempt to bounce back against Penn State next week, but I think a win is unlikely.

Louisville Cardinals

Louisville had two weeks to show if they could be a major player in the ACC, and they failed the test. They lost to both Notre Dame and SMU, and I don’t see much a path for them to bounce back.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

Me and many others thought that OKST would be a legit Big 12 contender this year, but they have a had an awful start to conference play. They were competitive for a while in the Kansas State and Utah games, so that was excusable, but they got frickin railed by West Virginia. A very disappointing first half of the season.

Game of the Week

Miami at Cal 39-38

In a week where so many top teams lost, it was looking like Miami would be one of those teams for a majority of the game. Lucky for the Canes, Cam Ward can do some magical things, and they got the tight victory.

Player of the Week

QB Cam Ward (Miami)

Grinder of the Week

QB Eli Holstein (Pitt)
