Top 10 Video Game Menu/Area Themes

While battle themes get the fame, area themes can be some of my favorite to listen to, and this is my top 10:

1 – Color Your Night (Persona 3 Reload)

This is the best addition Reload made to the original. This song is so perfect. Lotus Juice does a great job rapping (as always) but his singing part is the best part of the song. This is the best use of the new vocals from Azumi Takahishi as well as she does a great job in this one. I really like the duet element that you get from P3’s whole soundtrack that you don’t really get from the other Persona games.

2 – No More What If’s (Persona 5 Royal)

This is one of my go to Jazz tracks for studying. This song especially hits hard as you listen to the lyrics and how it paralells Akechi’s life and his jumbled up morality.

3 – Hyrule Castle (The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild)

This is the best song atmospherically on the whole list. It is so epic and daunting which is extremely fitting as your whole journey through Hyrule has led up to this final dungeon.

4 – It’s Raining Somewhere Else (Undertale)

This song is also one of my go to’s when I am studying or doing homework. Great, relaxing piece. I just wish it was in the game more.

5 – Beneath the Mask (Persona 5)

This is the perfect track to represent just how good Persona 5’s soundtrack is. Not only are the songs themselves really good in isolation, but this one especially is so atmospheric that it makes you really emersed in the enviornment and the message this game is trying to tell.

6 – Heaven (Persona 4)

This is the emotional climaz of the game as you must save Nanako, and this song helps you feel the stakes of the moment. My only problem with this song is that you don’t hear it much. I rushed through the palace as quick as I could to save Nanako, and obviously every fight resets this song to the beginning.

7 – Tokyo Daylight (Persona 5)

Just like Beneath the Mask, this song really captures the mood of running around Tokyo, figuring out what to do.

8 – Full Moon Full Life (Persona 3 Reload)

The opening to this game is the best in the series. Not only is the music epic and capture the edgy, dramatic tone of the story, but it characterizes every main character so well. The other P3 openings are really good too, but this is the best.

9 – Route 10 (Pokemon Sun and Moon)

This one is purely nostalgia from my first ever RPG. Great music as your journey recahes the 2nd act, and it is some the best route music in Pokemon in my opinion.
