My pick for each award and my All-Pro team:
Awards
MVP
It really just came down to two players. Matthew Stafford and Drake Maye. They have been the best QBs all year for the two teams that I picked to go to the Super Bowl. Matthew Stafford get the edge to me because whenever I watch him play, he is always elite at all times. His passes are so perfect, and he really is what makes his team so great.
Winner: Matthew Stafford (LAR)
Coach of the Year
There were three main candidiates here. Mike Vrabel, Liam Coen, and Mike Macdonald. All three of them did a great job, but I think Vrabel did the best here. He did more with less. The roster really doesn’t look as good as many other contenders on paper, but they execute better than just about anyone. They are the very definition of worst to first, and the difference is Vrabel.
Winner: Mike Vrabel (NE)
Offensive Player of the Year
There were some running backs with great seasons this year, but there were two WRs that really shined this year. Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. JSN had slightly more yards, but Puka has more receptions, the same TDs, and better ypg. He also just looks more impressive when I watch him, so he gets a close win.
Winner: Puka Nacua (LAR)
Defensive Player of the Year
While Will Anderson Jr is my favorite player, and he had a great year, I have to give this award to Myles Garrett. He has a historic season, and he was head and shoulders better than anyone else.
Winner: Myles Garrett (CLE)
Offensive Rookie of the Year
While no rookies had a year quite like Jayden Daniels did last year, there were three that stood out to me. Tetairoa McMillan, Tyler Shough, and Jaxson Dart. I give the edge McMillan because he was the most consistent, and was just the best player in general when compared to other players at his position.
Winner: Tetairoa McMillan (CAR)
Defensive Rookie of the Year
There are two options here. Carson Schwesinger and James Pearce Jr. I give the edge to Schewsinger. Pearce had a really good year, but 156 tackles is hard to beat. The Browns LB also had 11 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, and 2 INTs. Great year.
Winner: Carson Schwesinger (CLE)
Comeback Player of the Year
There are a lot of options here, but I have to give the win to Christian McCaffery. While his rushing rumbers weren’t anything special (still good with 1,202 yards), he was able to add 924 receiving yards on top of that. With over 2000 total yards, and being on of the only players to get through the year healthy for the Niners, I have to give the award to him. My runner-up is Aidan Hutchinson, who had a good bounce back season.
Winner: Christian McCaffery (SF)
Most Improved Player
I never would have thought that Daniel Jones would win an award for anything, but here we are. The Colts were one of the best teams in football before his injury, much in part because complete 180 going from one of the worst QBs in the NFL to an MVP candidate at one point. I was also impressed by Javonte Williams this year who had a quiet 1,201 yard season. He was on my fantasy team too, so that gives him a boost. I have to go with Jones though, because of how garbage he was before this year.
Winner: Daniel Jones (IND)
Most Dissapointing Player of the Year
Tua is just about finished. I love the guy. He was one of my favorites at Bama, and he a had a really good couple of years in the NFL, but he completely sucked this year. There was almost no redemption. Losing Tyreek hurts. Having poor protection literally hurts, but he has been able to produce in situations like this in the past. Jayden Daniels was pretty dissapointing as well. While his season was mostly ruined by injury, he didn’t really play up to the standard he set last year either. Tua was healthy the whole year though, and he is on my favorite team, so he gets the “award.”
Winner: Tua Tagovailoa (MIA)
All Grind Player of the Year
This award goes to my favorite player of the year. Will Anderson Jr may not have had the stats to beat Garrett for DPOY, but I make the rules here. He is my favorite defensive player in the NFL, and he is also one of the most dominant. De’Von Achane was pretty much the only bright spot on the Dolphins this year, and he was really fun to watch. Hopefully the Dolphins don’t waste his career.
Winner: Will Anderson Jr (HOU)
