Big 12: 3 (8, 9, 16)

Playoff Picture

There are 10 realistic playoff contenders in my eyes, and I’ll take you through them by conference.

Big Ten: 3

2 Michigan Wolverines 6-0: Best win – vs Rutgers 31-7

3 Penn State Nittany Lions 5-0: Best win – vs Iowa 31-0

5 Ohio State Buckeyes 5-0: Best win – at 18 Notre Dame 17-14

Whoever ends up winning this division will most likely make the playoffs. All three of these teams will play each other later in the season.

SEC: 2

4 Georgia Bulldogs 6-0: Best win – vs Kentucky 51-13

7 Alabama Crimson Tide 5-1: Best win – vs 11 Ole Miss 24-10

Both of these teams win mainly because of their defense. I am curious to see if Auburn was really the wake up call Georgia needed, or if the dominance against Kentucky was just a fluke. Alabama purely relies on their defense, and we’ll see how well that recipe works against LSU in a few weeks.

Big 12: 2

8 Oklahoma Sooners 6-0: Best win – vs 9 Texas 34-30

9 Texas Longhorns 5-1: Best win – at 7 Alabama 34-24

Both of these teams have easy schedules ahead of them and will probably have a rematch in the Big 12 championship. Whoever wins that will make the playoffs.

Pac 12: 2

1 Washington Huskies 5-0: Best win – vs Boise State 56-19

6 Oregon Ducks 6-0: Best win – vs Colorado 42-6

Both of these teams have tough Pac 12 schedules ahead, but if either wins the Pac 12 with 1 loss, they should make it.

ACC: 1

10 Florida State Seminoles 5-0: Best win – vs 12 LSU 45-24

Florida State needs help ahead of them. They most likely will need one of the other 4 conferences to have a 2 loss champion to make the playoffs.

NY6

Rose Bowl: 1 Washington vs 4 Georgia

Sugar Bowl: 2 Michigan vs 3 Penn State

Orange Bowl: 7 Alabama vs 10 Florida State

Cotton Bowl: 6 Oregon vs 8 Oklahoma

Peach Bowl: 5 Ohio State vs 11 Ole Miss

Fiesta Bowl: 9 Texas vs Air Force
